About

Turning the ground Nigeria stands on into something an engineer will sign off on.

Ecored is a low-carbon building-materials company in Abuja. We were established in 2026 and we are early — this page says exactly how early.

Nigeria does not need to import its way to a house.

The country builds mostly in sandcrete. Sandcrete depends on cement and sharp sand, and both of them travel — up from the coast, across states, through a fuel price and an exchange rate before they reach a site in Wuye. A block that costs one thing in Lagos costs another in Jos, and neither price is under the builder’s control.

Meanwhile the material is already there. Laterite sits under most of the country, often under the very plot being cleared. Nigerians have built with it for centuries and it works: it holds heat out during the day, it costs almost nothing to move, and it does not need a shipping lane. What it has never reliably had is a specification.

That is the whole of the work. Not rediscovering earth building — earth building was never lost. Turning it into something with a batch number, a test certificate and a datasheet, so that an engineer can sign off on it and a bank can lend against it. Ecored exists to close that last gap between a material that is under everyone’s feet and a material an engineer will put their name to.

Moving away from the inconsistencies of traditional sandcrete, we bridge the gap between earth-building techniques and modern industrial standards. That means dosing by formula rather than by eye, pressing to fixed dimensions rather than to whatever the mould gives, and testing to a published method rather than to a site opinion.

What we make, and what we do with it.

Two halves of one business. We manufacture the material, and we stay on site while it goes up — because a material only performs the way it was tested if it is handled the way it was tested.

Materials

Laterite cement in 50kg bags at Grade 42.5R, compressed stabilised laterite bricks and blocks with an interlocking profile, and pavers. Dosed by formula, pressed to fixed dimensions, batch-marked.

Services

Build supervision from foundation to handover, and the machinery to do it — brick presses, compactors and laying equipment, with trained operators on request.

Photography on this site is licensed stock, not Ecored’s own sites. It is indicative of the material and the work, not a record of a completed Ecored project.

We do not mark our own homework.

Ecored is a research partner of the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute. NBRRI has worked on stabilised earth in Nigerian conditions for decades, and it tests to published methods rather than to a manufacturer’s preference. Our mixes go to them for compressive strength, water absorption and durability cycling, and what comes back is what we publish — a certificate with an institute’s name on it is worth more than any claim we could write ourselves. Read what is being tested and how.

Where we are, plainly.

Ecored was established in 2026. We are early. It is worth saying so directly, because the alternative is letting a website imply a company that does not exist yet.

We run one production line in Wuye, Abuja. Capacity is growing but it is not large, and lead times reflect that — on a bigger order we will tell you what we can actually press in a week rather than take the order and find out later. We have no completed portfolio to show you. The buildings on this site are stock photography of earth construction, chosen because they show what the material can do, not because we built them.

Certification and testing are genuinely in place: RC 9633666, SON certified, and an active research partnership with NBRRI. Test certificates from that programme are still coming through. Until they land, every performance figure we quote is indicative and labelled as such.

None of this is a reason to wait. It is a reason to ask us harder questions than you would ask an established supplier, and to expect straight answers. If you want a sample pressed from your own site’s laterite before you commit to anything, ask — that is a normal request at this stage, not an imposition.

Three rules we hold ourselves to.

They are not slogans. Each one costs us something, which is how you can tell they are real.

Measurable over marketing

A number we can defend with a test method beats a number that sounds better. Where a figure is not yet certified, we say so on the same page rather than in a footnote nobody reads.

Costs us: the bigger claim

Local over imported

If the ground under the site can do the job, it should. Every tonne we do not haul across the country is cost we do not pass on and diesel nobody burns.

Costs us: the easier supply chain

Standard over improvised

Fixed dosing, fixed dimensions, batch numbers on every bag. Site-level judgement is where sandcrete quality goes to die, and we would rather remove the decision than train around it.

Costs us: flexibility on the line

On site, not just in the invoice

We supervise builds because a material that is mixed wrong or laid wrong fails as a product, whatever the certificate says. Staying through handover is slower for us and safer for you.

Costs us: time after the sale

The people behind it.

A small team across production, engineering and site supervision, working out of Wuye.

Team profiles and photography are being prepared and will be published here. We would rather leave this section empty for now than fill it with stand-ins. To reach someone directly in the meantime, use the contact page or write to admin@buildwithecored.com.

Ask us the hard questions early.

Tell us about your site — soil, scale, timeline — and we will tell you plainly whether we are the right supplier for it yet.
